Customer questions & answers
Question: Does this umbrella protect you from rain or just sun? I want to use it to cover a hot tub in the rainy Pacific Northwest in the winter.
Answer: We have it over our hot tub, which is an 8x8 tub and it’s perfect. Well made and provides nice shade/coverage. You’ll get a little protection if it’s sprinkling, but not sure about the coverage if it rains.
Question: Do I fill the base with sand or water or both?
Answer: You fill the base with approximately 5- 50 lb bags of play sand and then add water to complete the weight requirement. The water will make the sand wet and heavier of course. Then leave a little room at the top and seal it off. Try to add the weight in the area you will use the umbrella. It’s quite heavy at 275 lbs.
Question: can you buy a replacement umbrella and re use this same stand? If so, what would be the cost of it?
Answer: Pretty sure you can’t. The umbrella is opened/closed by a pulley system inside the bar of the umbrella. The extension of the umbrella would play a part too.
Question: can the umbrella be moved to a different spot (close by) once it is filled with water? Is that what the wheels are for?
Answer: Yes you can move the umbrella, but don’t put water in the base, it will freeze and crack in the winter. Fill it with sand
